How many can Camp Banksia Accommodate?

155 individual beds + camping when combined with a booking

Is there a minimum group size?

No, Camp Banksia can accommodate for 1 to 155+

Can we have the camp to ourselves?

Exclusive use of the site is available to any group of 26+

How many cabins are there?

22 bunk style cabins are on site, plus our Banksia Beach cabins

How many does each cabin sleep?

Each bunk cabin sleeps 6 persons

Is bedding provided in the bunk cabins?

No linen is supplied but it can be hired for $20 per person per stay

What type of heating is in the rooms?

Fixed electric wall panel heating is in all rooms

Is there disability access to rooms and toilets?

Yes, there are ramps and disabled bathrooms for ease of access


Is catering provided?

Camp Banksia offers catering to any group of 15+

Is crockery and cutlery supplied?

Groups can BYO, or we can supply for a small fee

Is morning/afternoon tea & supper provided?

Yes all 3 are provided with full catering

What time are the meals?

Meals are served at a suitable time for your group

Do campers do the washing up?

No if we supply crockery & cutlery/Yes if you supply your own

Can we cater for ourselves?

Yes, the camp has a self-catering kitchen

Is there a BBQ area?


Toilet and Showers

How many toilet and shower areas are there?

Each cluster of cabins has their own external bathrooms

Are there any ensuite facilities?

Not in the bunk cabin, but yes in the Banksia Beach Cabins

Are there laundry facilities?

There is a laundry on site & each cluster has a clothes line


Is there a fee for activities?
  • The camp supplies balls and some games free of charge
  • Tennis courts are free
  • A small fee is charged for bikes, kayaks and stadium
  • Fees do apply for Tas Parks & Wildlife and Slipstream programs
Can bikes and kayaks be taken off grounds?

By arrangement with office staff, yes they can


Does the camp organise transport?

No, getting to and from the camp is campers responsibility, but we can supply a list of local bus operators for your convenience

Are there emergency procedures displayed at camp?

Yes in every cabin and all buildings

Local Amenities

Are there medical facilities in the area?

Yes the Shearwater medical centre is 2km from camp and the Mersey hospital is 16km away in Latrobe

What shops are available in the area?

There is a fuel station, two supermarkets (Woolworths & IGA), two bakeries an Amcal Chemist, Reject Shop, Newsagent, Home Hardware, several takeaway food outlets and a couple of cafes.

For dining out there is the Shearwater Resort, and Tranquil’s Restaurant.
