We offer a range of accommodation and catering options for school camps combined with facilities that allow your school to create a program that suits your curriculum.

Ideal for school camps is the 22 bunk style cabins which are designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible with easy access to facilities. Each cabin has 6 timber bunk beds with mattresses and electric panel heating. Clusters of 5 & 6 cabins have their own unisex and universal access bathrooms along with a dedicated disabled toilet and shower.
Groups need only bring bedding and towels to make our cabins feel like home. Or if you’d prefer, bedding and towels are available for hire.
In addition to the bunk style accommodation Camp Banksia has 2 complexes of self-contained units (Banksia Beach Cabins) which can cater up to 18 people. These complexes can be incorporated into your group camp and are fitted out with all linen.
Leaders or Coach Drivers
If your school has leaders, teachers or coach drivers that you would like to offer separate lodgings to, we have the space for you!
In an upstairs area of our community centre we can offer 2 bedrooms (one with a queen bed, one with 2 single beds and a single trundle bed), a lounge area with TV and a small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, toaster oven, kettle as well as crockery & cutlery. Mattresses are fitted with a sheet only.
Main Dining Hall
The sunny Main Hall is offered to groups free of charge with any fully catered school camp. Depending on your school group size the hall can be utilised not only for dining but as an added space for activity rotations, hold a class or watch a movie. The large bright room with timber floors and wood heating can seat up to 155 people for dining or 180 in a conference style layout. Table and chairs are provided and are left for organisers to arrange to meet their own requirements.
Other additions in the main hall are two kitchenettes both with zip hot water units, three small fridges, whiteboard, a large smart TV, DVD player and amplifier. Three bathrooms including disabled are accessible off the main hall deck.
The Banksia centre is ideal for schools that need extra space or maybe add some sport, performance or music to your plans! The centre has a number of options for any school!
- The Stadium - With beautiful timber floors and consisting of a full sized indoor basketball court the stadium is a great space for the whole group to enjoy. The stadium can be transformed from basketball to netball, badminton or volleyball and all equipment is supplied. It’s your choice! Two large change rooms and disabled change room/bathroom top off this great space.
- Meeting Rooms - There are 2 carpeted meeting rooms with ducted heating and air-conditioning. The rooms can be utilised for extra classes, rotation areas, or break outs spaces. The two meeting rooms can be opened up into one large room if required. The rooms are supplied with table, chairs, whiteboards, a smart TV, Blu-ray DVD player and Wi-Fi.
- Performing Arts Room – More indoor space! This once half sized court retains its original parquetry flooring. The room with its acoustic panelling is ideal for school performances or music. Panel ceiling heaters allow this room to be utilised all year round.

Camp Banksia is designed to accommodate all disabled bodied people. The camp has ramps for easy access to the raised main hall and dedicated bathrooms and showers in every area. Flat footpaths lead to every area for ease of access. No matter what the disability Camp Banksia can accommodate.
If your School group would prefer to self-cater we can offer a separate kitchen facility for all your cooking needs. The kitchen consists of 1 gas oven with hotplates, a large indoor BBQ plate, a microwave, 2 standard fridges, cooking equipment, a small TV and Instant zip hot water for hot drinks and washing up. The self-catering kitchen area has a large covered outdoor area a seating for groups to gather and dine. Groups can BYO Crockery and Cutlery or for an extra $1 per person per stay why not hire ours!
All guests are welcome to use the Camp’s well-equipped laundry free of charge.
The camps 12 sit on top kayaks are perfect for primary school students to utilise on our onsite pond. For the older student the kayaks can be taken offsite to nearby Freers Beach. Paddles and PFD’s are provided. Kayak usage is the responsibility of the organiser and it is a provision that a competent school leader or responsible adult oversee the activity.
The Fifteen bicycles are available for students to ride. The bikes can be ridden around the camp or (with permission) taken on a longer trip down the nearby bike track along the beachfront. Helmets are provided.
Student and teachers are welcome to use the 2 onsite tennis courts free of charge. Tennis rackets and tennis balls are available from the camp office.
Sporting equipment and games
At camp Banksia we can offer school groups a range of balls and games to utilise throughout their stay. A few of the options we can supply are; totem tennis kits, outdoor chess and draughts, bocce sets, skipping ropes, Frisbee’s, cricket sets, beach volleyball sets, table tennis, giant connect four, footballs, basketballs, netballs, soccer balls and much more. All equipment is lent out free of charge.
Camp Banksia can offer plenty of space for a game of football, cricket or whatever your school group desires.
The Camp offers a stimulating, educational and interactive range of activities suitable for all types of weather and curriculum learning requirements.
From wildlife discovery tours and educational shows to rock pool rambles, Camp Banksia activities offer a world of exploration and fun within the site’s six hectares of parklands and adjacent Freers Beach.

Camp Banksia offers a variety of delicious home cooked meals. We provide great food in a great atmosphere.
Three meals a day are available and served in the main dining hall. Takeaway options are available for school groups who have decided to venture out for the day. Groups also have access to fresh fruit, cordial and water throughout their stay. Tea and coffee facilities are also available 24 hours.
Meals consist of the following:
Breakfast: Cereals, yoghurt, toast and juices.
Morning tea: Biscuit, cake, slice or savoury.
Lunch: Salad bar with a hot or cold option.
Afternoon tea: Biscuit, cake, slice or savoury.
Dinner: Two course meal consisting of main and dessert.
Supper: Prepacked biscuit
Crockery & Cutlery
Schools can opt for students and teachers bring their own crockery and cutlery which can be washed in the outdoor sinks provided at each end of the dining hall. Camp Banksia supplies all dishwashing equipment and detergent. *Alternatively Camp Banksia can supply crockery and cutlery and wash them for you. *Fees apply
Special dietary requirements
The Kitchen is able to cater for a range of dietary requirements. Catering staff will cater for vegetarians, vegans, coeliac/gluten free, dairy intolerance and some allergies. By arrangement with camp management meals can be brought in for special dietary reasons.
Camp Banksia is a nut free environment and we do ask that no nuts be brought onto the site.
Birthdays at Camp
If a student or teacher of your group is celebrating a birthday, the catering staff would be more than happy to bake a cake for the occasion. Camp Organisers are asked to notify Camp Banksia before their camp arrival date.
A self-catering kitchen is available to hire along with BBQ’s for school groups who wish to cater for themselves. The kitchen is suitable for group of 40 to 50 max.
