Self-Contained - Banksia Beach Cabins
Camp Banksia has 2 complexes of self-contained units which are ideal for families. The complexes which adjoin each other by gate are ideal for small or larger families. Catering for up to 18 people these complexes can be incorporated into a group camp or hired separately. Banksia Beach Cabins are fitted out with all linen and are laid out as follows;
Complex 1: consists of 3 rooms. Two large adjoining rooms, each with a queen bed, four bunk beds, bathroom, toilet, TV & DVD player. Another room has two bunk beds only. There is an adjoining kitchen / dining room complete with cooking facilities and eating utensils. Max capacity for this complex is 14 persons.
Complex 2: is right next door. This complex is a self-contained unit that has 2 separate bedrooms. One bedroom houses a double bed and the other a single set of bunks. There is a small lounge area with a couch, full kitchen and a separate shower & toilet. Max capacity for this unit is 4 persons.
Ideal for family groups is the 22 bunk style cabins which are designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible with easy access to facilities. Each cabin has 6 timber bunk beds with mattresses and electric panel heating. Clusters of 5 & 6 cabins have their own unisex and universal access bathrooms along with a dedicated disabled toilet and shower.
Families need only bring bedding and towels to make our cabins feel like home. Or if you’d prefer, bedding and towels are available for hire.
The bunk accommodation can be incorporate with our camp catering or if your group would prefer to be more self-sufficient we can offer our self-catering kitchen for all your groups meal needs.
Camp Banksia offers a variety of delicious home cooked meals to suit any family group. We provide great food at a great venue. If your family gathering would prefer to spend time together rather than cooking this option is for you!
With Camp Banksia catering groups not only get 3 meals per day, but also have access to fresh fruit, cordial and water throughout their stay. Tea and coffee facilities are also available 24 hours.
If preferred we also offer all families a DIY option within our self-catering kitchen.
Meals consist of the following;
Breakfast: Cereals, yoghurt, toast and juices.
Morning tea: Biscuit, cake, slice or savoury.
Lunch: Salad bar with a hot or cold option.
Afternoon tea: Biscuit, cake, slice or savoury.
Dinner: Two course meal consisting of main and dessert.
Supper: Prepacked biscuit

Alternatively, Camp Banksia offers single meal options with a selection of lunches and dinner ideas to cater for your every need.
Crockery & Cutlery
Families can opt to bring their own crockery and cutlery which can be washed in the outdoor sinks provided at each end of the dining hall. Camp Banksia supplies all dishwashing equipment and detergent.

Special dietary requirements
The Kitchen is able to cater for a range of dietary requirements. Catering staff will cater for vegetarians, vegans, coeliac/gluten free, dairy intolerance and some allergies. By arrangement with camp management meals can be brought in for special dietary reasons.
Camp Banksia is a nut free environment and we do ask that no nuts be brought onto the site.
Birthdays at Camp
If anyone your group is celebrating a birthday while on camp, the catering staff would be more than happy to bake a cake for the occasion. Camp Organisers are asked to notify Camp Banksia before their camp arrival date.
A self-catering kitchen is available to hire for families who wish to cater for themselves. This kitchen area has a large covered area with seating suitable for groups of 50 to 60 people at a maximum. Your group could cook in the kitchen or hire one our spit roasters, either way we have everything a family would need to cook up a storm at Camp Banksia.
Camp Banksia offers a number of spaces any family group can enjoy. From our main hall to the Banksia Centre we have a space for your needs.
Main Dining Hall
Camp Banksia’s sunny main dining hall can be utilised in a number of ways when it comes to family occasions.
- Hire by the hour
- Book in for a single meal
- Or utilise the building for free with a fully catered camp
The hall can seat up to 155 for dining purposes but can also be used for any family celebrations. Other additions in the main hall are two kitchenettes both with zip hot water units, three small fridges, whiteboard, a large smart TV, DVD player and amplifier. Three bathrooms including disabled are accessible off the main hall deck. Table and chairs are provided and are left for organisers to arrange to meet their own requirements.
- Performing Arts Room: This once half sized court retains its original parquetry flooring. The room with its acoustic panelling is ideal space for morning teas, seminars, craft displays and much much more. With Wi-Fi available and Panel ceiling heaters, this room can be utilised all year round and the options are endless.
- Meeting Rooms: There are 2 carpeted meeting rooms with ducted heating and air-conditioning. The rooms can be utilised for any community need. The two meeting rooms can be opened up into one large room if required. The rooms are supplied with table, chairs, whiteboards, a smart TV, Blu-ray DVD player and Wi-Fi.
- The Stadium: With beautiful timber floors and consisting of a full sized indoor basketball court the stadium is a great space for the any group to take a break. The stadium can be transformed from basketball to netball, badminton or volleyball and all equipment is supplied. It’s your choice! Two large change rooms and disabled change room/bathroom top off this great space.

Camp Banksia is designed to accommodate all disabled bodied people. The camp has ramps for easy access to the raised main hall and dedicated bathrooms and showers in every area. Flat footpaths lead to every area for ease of access. No matter what the disability Camp Banksia can accommodate.
If your family group would prefer to self-cater we can offer a separate kitchen facility for all your cooking needs. The kitchen consists of 2 ovens with hotplates, a large indoor BBQ plate, a microwave, 2 standard fridges, cooking equipment, a small TV and Instant zip hot water for hot drinks and washing up. The self-catering kitchen area has a large covered outdoor area and seating for groups to gather and dine. Groups can BYO Crockery and Cutlery or for an extra $1 per person per stay why not hire ours! Spit roasters are also available for hire.
All guests who stay onsite are welcome to use the Camp’s well-equipped laundry free of charge.
Camp Banksia has a number of activity options for families to utilise when staying with us. Activity items can be arranged for hire or loan through the Camp Banksia office.
The camps 12 sit on top kayaks are perfect to utilise on our onsite pond or can be taken offsite to nearby Freers Beach. Paddles and PFD’s are provided. Kayak usage is the responsibility of the organiser and it is a provision that a competent leader or responsible adult oversee the activity.
The camps12+ bicycles are available to any group and can be ridden around the camp or (with permission) taken on a longer trip down the nearby bike track along the beachfront. Helmets are provided.
All groups are welcome to use the 2 onsite tennis courts free of charge. Tennis rackets and tennis balls are available from the camp office.
Sporting equipment and games
At camp Banksia we offer a range of balls and games to utilise throughout their stay. A few of the options we can supply are; totem tennis kits, outdoor chess and draughts, bocce sets, skipping ropes, Frisbee’s, cricket sets, beach volleyball sets, table tennis, giant connect four, footballs, basketballs, netballs, soccer balls and much more. All equipment is lent out free of charge.
