Community Group Camps are a breeze at Camp Banksia. Members, clubs, hobby and community interest groups create lasting memories when gathering together

Whether your aim is to get crafty, mentor, dance, share your interest or just enjoy each other’s company, Camp Banksia is the perfect place to do all this and more.

We offer a range of facilities, accommodation and catering set among beautiful grounds and natural settings that will suit any community club or private group.

Our experienced team is ready to discuss your requirements and deliver a camp or combination of facility spaces that meet your needs.

FACILITIES

Banksia Centre

The Banksia centre offers the ideal spaces for any Community Group to convene. If your group requires space for a meeting or a presentation or just to gather to share your wares and knowledge… there is a space within the Banksia Centre for your group!

  • Meeting Rooms: There are 2 carpeted meeting rooms with ducted heating and air-conditioning. The rooms can be utilised for any corporate needs. The two meeting rooms can be opened up into one large room if required. The rooms are supplied with table, chairs, whiteboards, a smart TV, Blu-ray DVD player and Wi-Fi.
  • Performing Arts Room: This once half sized court retains its original parquetry flooring. The room with its acoustic panelling is ideal space a conference, lecture or workshop and much more. With Wi-Fi available and Panel ceiling heaters, this room can be utilised all year round and the corporate options are endless.
  • The Stadium: With beautiful timber floors and consisting of a full sized indoor basketball court the stadium is a great space for the any group to do some team building. The stadium can be transformed from basketball to netball, badminton or volleyball and all equipment is supplied. It’s your choice! Two large change rooms and disabled change room/bathroom top off this great space.

There is no shortage of suitable areas within this complex for any community function or faction! Please enquire on availability when booking your stay at Camp Banksia.

Main Dining Hall

Camp Banksia’s sunny main dining hall is a great space for meal and or meetings! The Hall is available by the following;

  • Hire by the hour
  • Book in for a single meal
  • Or utilise the building for free with a fully catered camp

The hall can seat up to 155 for dining or up to 200 in a meeting setting. Other additions in the main hall are two kitchenettes both with zip hot water units, three small fridges, whiteboard, a large smart TV, DVD player and amplifier. Three bathrooms including disabled are accessible off the main hall deck. Table and chairs are provided and are left for organisers to arrange to meet their own requirements.

Disabled facilities

Camp Banksia is designed to accommodate all disabled bodied people. The camp has ramps for easy access to the raised main hall and dedicated bathrooms and showers in every area. Flat footpaths lead to every area for ease of access. No matter what the disability Camp Banksia can accommodate.

Self-catering Kitchen

If your community event or group would prefer to self-cater we can offer a separate kitchen facility for all your cooking needs. The kitchen consists of 2 ovens with hotplates, a large indoor BBQ plate, a microwave, 2 standard fridges, cooking equipment, a small TV and Instant zip hot water for hot drinks and washing up. The self-catering kitchen area has a large covered outdoor area a seating for groups to gather and dine. Groups can BYO Crockery and Cutlery or for an extra $1 per person per stay why not hire ours!

Laundry

All guests who stay onsite are welcome to use the Camp’s well-equipped laundry free of charge.

MEALS & DINING

Camp Banksia offers a variety of delicious home cooked meals. We provide great food at a great venue. For fully catered overnight camps we offer three meals a day in the main dining hall. Takeaway options are available for groups who have decided to venture out for the day. Groups also have access to fresh fruit, cordial and water throughout their stay. Tea and coffee facilities are also available 24 hours.

Meals consist of the following;

Breakfast: Cereals, yoghurt, toast and juices.

Morning tea: Biscuit, cake, slice or savoury.

Lunch: Salad bar with a hot or cold option.

Afternoon tea: Biscuit, cake, slice or savoury.

Dinner: Two course meal consisting of main and dessert.

Supper: Prepacked biscuit

*Menus are bases on a standard Camp Banksia selection. Upgrade meal options are available on request

Alternatively, Camp Banksia offers single meal options with a selection of lunches and dinner ideas to cater for your every corporate need.

Crockery & Cutlery

Groups can opt to bring their own crockery and cutlery which can be washed in the outdoor sinks provided at each end of the dining hall. Camp Banksia supplies all dishwashing equipment and detergent. *Alternatively Camp Banksia can supply crockery and cutlery and wash them for you. *Fees apply

Special dietary requirements

The Kitchen is able to cater for a range of dietary requirements. Catering staff will cater for vegetarians, vegans, coeliac/gluten free, dairy intolerance and some allergies. By arrangement with camp management meals can be brought in for special dietary reasons.

Camp Banksia is a nut free environment and we do ask that no nuts be brought onto the site.

Birthdays at Camp

If anyone your group is celebrating a birthday while on camp, the catering staff would be more than happy to bake a cake for the occasion. Camp Organisers are asked to notify Camp Banksia before their camp arrival date.

Self-Catering

A self-catering kitchen is available to hire along with BBQ’s for groups who wish to cater for themselves. The kitchen is suitable for group of 40 to 50 max.

ACCOMMODATION

Bunk Style

Ideal for any group is the 22 bunk style cabins which are designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible with easy access to facilities. Each cabin has 6 timber bunk beds with mattresses and electric panel heating. Clusters of 5 & 6 cabins have their own unisex and universal access bathrooms along with a dedicated disabled toilet and shower.

Groups need only bring bedding and towels to make our cabins feel like home. Or if you’d prefer, bedding and towels are available for hire.

Self-Contained

In addition to the bunk style accommodation Camp Banksia has 2 complexes of self-contained units (Banksia Beach Cabins) which can cater up to 18 people. These complexes can be incorporated into your group camp and are fitted out with all linen.

Leaders or Organisers

If your group has leaders or organisers that you would like to offer separate lodgings, we have the space for you!

In an upstairs area of our community centre we can offer 2 bedrooms (one with a queen bed, one with 2 single beds and a single trundle bed), a lounge area with TV and a small kitchenette with microwave, fridge, toaster oven, kettle as well as crockery & cutlery. Mattresses are fitted with a sheet only.

ACTIVITIES

Some extra options that are available at Camp Banksia; should your corporate group want to take a break from a meeting or from your programmed activities we offer the following items for your group to enjoy!

Kayaks

The camps 12 sit on top kayaks are perfect to utilise on our onsite pond or can be taken offsite to nearby Freers Beach. Paddles and PFD’s are provided. Kayak usage is the responsibility of the organiser and it is a provision that a competent leader or responsible adult oversee the activity.

Bicycles

The camps12+ bicycles are available to any group and can be ridden around the camp or (with permission) taken on a longer trip down the nearby bike track along the beachfront. Helmets are provided.

Tennis Courts

All groups are welcome to use the 2 onsite tennis courts free of charge. Tennis rackets and tennis balls are available from the camp office.

Sporting equipment and games

At camp Banksia we offer a range of balls and games to utilise throughout their stay or throughout the day. A few of the options we can supply are; totem tennis kits, outdoor chess and draughts, bocce sets, skipping ropes, Frisbee’s, cricket sets, beach volleyball sets, table tennis, giant connect four, footballs, basketballs, netballs, soccer balls and much more. All equipment is lent out free of charge.

Organised Activities

The Camp offers a stimulating, educational and interactive range of activities suitable for all types of weather and curriculum learning requirements.

From wildlife discovery tours and educational shows to rock pool rambles, Camp Banksia activities offer a world of exploration and fun within the site’s six hectares of parklands and adjacent Freers Beach.
